Getting new recruits from the handshake to day one

Accepting a job offer and counting down to the starting day is an exciting time for anyone. As an employer, you have an opportunity to maximise that buy–in. You want to make your new employees feel welcome and fully prepared to fit in when they arrive. And you want them to know that you’re just as pleased as they are to be forming this new partnership.

Once the interview process is over and the offer’s accepted, things have a tendency to go quiet. Your new starter is left with time to ponder – and hopefully, their anticipation will be positive. But it’s a good time for you to remind them that you’re there and willing to help. One way of doing this is to create an online community for incoming team members.

This can carry a lot of benefits – covering off poaching worries as well as promoting a sense of belonging. It’s a 24–hour resource, always there to answer questions and help capture the enthusiasm and anticipation that’s so valuable in a new joiner.

work has developed a new web–based onboarding solution that reflects the common needs of many organisations, but retains the flexibility to be customisable to your company, to the level of fully bespoke creations.

Whether it’s a quick phone call to answer your questions about effective onboarding and its impact, or a conversation to help you explore what’s possible for your company, we’d love to help. Ring Tom Chesterton on 020 7492 0041 or email onboarding@workcomms.com
